Rubberwood & Other By-Products

Rubberwood is growing in importance: it was originally perceived merely as a useful by-product, which was used to dry and smoke rubber and to provide a source of charcoal for local cooking.

Now Hevea is being grown with the preconceived concept of timber harvesting, with the latex being harvested as a secondary consideration. Nevertheless, rubberwood continues to grow in importance as a significant by-product from natural rubber production.

Rubberwood is used in construction, flooring, furniture (especially in Europe) and as a source of chipboard and pulp for papermaking.
