Rubber
compounding, including latex compounding, requires large scale
(or specialized in the case of latex) mixing machinery, especially
if the process is to be accomplished within an economic time-scale.
Furthermore, savings can be made through the bulk purchase
of items like carbon black and accelerators for vulcanization.
Thus some companies have emerged which specialize in rubber
(latex) compounding and supply compounded rubber (or precompounded
latex) to small and medium-sized companies. Within large corporations
certain plants may specialize in supplying compounded rubber
to factory units which lack such facilities, or minimize them. |
