IRRDB TRAINING FELLOWSHIPS FOR 2008

Applications are invited from the IRRDB Member Institutes for IRRDB Training Fellowships for 2008. The training fellowship will cover return air travel, accommodation and subsistence allowance for a period of 4 weeks. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to attend the IRRDB-MRB International Rubber Conference from 13th to 14th October and participate in the field trip on the 15th October. For the 2008 fellowships, preference will be given to applicants who request training in the upstream areas and seeking attachment to the Rubber Research Institute of Thailand, Indonesian Rubber Research Institute, Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia and Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam. Fellowships are limited by virtue of cost considerations. The IRRDB Secretariat request that the names of the candidates submitted should be approved by the Director or CEO of the institute. This means that the formal nomination will be done by the respective Directors or CEOs. Individual applications without the support of the Director or CEO will not be considered.
The IRRDB Training Committee chaired by Dr. Chairil Anwar, the Director of Indonesian Rubber Research Institute will decide on the shortlisted candidates for recommendations and approval of the Directors and CEOs. In view of the logistics and time consideration, the Committee may even decide to have the training in one institute. This will provide an opportunity for closer interaction and effective networking among the scientists.
Closing date for applications is 22nd August 2008. Successful applicants will be informed before the third week of September 2008 to allow for visa applications and other formalities.
All Liaison Officers are requested to publicise this announcement through their respective representatives in the Member Institutes.
